The Use of Cork Boards in Schools
Since the year 1891, when they were originally created for the insulation of temperature in cold storage rooms, cork boards have evolved with the passage of time to become the silent handy workers in schools and businesses.
Whether they are framed by themselves or are designed in combination with a chalkboard, whiteboard, colorful papers and decorative fabrics, cork based boards are very useful not only as boards where you can stick or pin your notes, artworks, and messages but also decorative boards where you can hang other important things such as necklaces, bracelets, and watches. In schools, cork boards are often used as message boards where teachers and students can post their messages, announcements, memos and warnings. Some schools even conduct inter-section, inter-level or inter-department message board decorating contests where cork boards are the popular choice since they tend to be easier to decorate with its simplistic form. The natural appeal of cork boards is also what makes them more interesting as it can easily go well with any color. Cork based boards are also virtually maintenance free. Unlike chalkboards and whiteboards which tend to look dirty and worn out from heavy use and scratches, cork boards can still look clean even after years of usage. The use of staples, pins, and thumbtacks will not leave very noticeable holes and scratches on the surface of boards made of cork.
Students also enjoy displaying their artworks, projects and activity papers on their classroom cork boards, decreasing the cases of vandalistic writings on walls, classroom chairs and tables.
