Helping your Child with His School Project
It is natural for a parent to want what’s best for his children. Thus, parents certainly want their children to succeed in school. For this reason, many parents are guilty of making their children’s school projects themselves; decorating it with craft lights for a more impressive presentation, surfing the internet to seek images of school project design ideas, and even rallying up all the family members including the grandparents to find the materials for the project.
As nice as the idea of trying your best to help your child succeed in school is, making your child’s school project without involving the child in fear that his little hands might get in the way and ruin the project is not helping your child at all. Yes, your son or daughter may get that much desired A for a grade because of the almost perfect construction of the crafts and well-versed written explanation of the project. Yet, your child will not truly learn from it. As an adult, we come to understand that school projects are not just mere whims or caprice of teachers but are activities that promote learning to a child. But as we become parents, we tend to forget that fact.
True that it is best to support your child when it comes to his school activities and projects. But involving him in the construction of his school project while explaining to him how things work will not only develop his creativity but it will expand his learning as well.
