Women and Angling

Try exploring a fishing forum online and you’ll discover that there is more to fishing than you think. It is not just a task that involves putting a worm on the end of the rod, casting the line into the water and waiting for the fish to take the bait.

Some women think that fishing is a boring activity since one may need to wait for a couple of minutes even for hours before a fish is caught. Patience is indeed important in angling, but you can’t catch a fish by just casting your baited line into the water and waiting for the fish to bite into your hook. Making the worm or the bait look as natural as possible is vital in fishing, which many beginner female anglers fail to do. Some make the mistake of thinking that once the fish took the bait, it is already a sure catch. This often leads to losing the catch after some time of struggling to reel in the fighting fish. However, after the first catch, most women fall in love with the adventure and thrill of the sport as well as the rewarding feeling catching a large fish brings.

Many female anglers talk about their first fishing experience in many fishing forum threads, attracting support, questions, admirations and encouragements from both beginners and experienced anglers. Aside from the ego boost from catching the fish, getting the support of women who also love fishing can boost the confidence of a female angler.

Martial Arts Doesn’t Make a Woman Querulous

There are many self-defense schools that offer special self-defense and mixed martial arts training or courses for women. Such special courses teach techniques that aim to avoid or combat any type of physical confrontation.

There are many different types or forms of martial arts classes for women. Aside from playing an important role in women’s self-defense in combating any potential attacker, martial arts also build women’s self confidence, skills, and strength. Contrary to the belief of many skeptics that martial arts would only make women more aggressive, quarrelsome and unfeminine, true martial arts discipline and training teaches both men and women alike to control their selves, their temper and their anger. Just because a woman learns how to say no to the things she don’t like and proceeds to do so to the things she don’t want doesn’t make her aggressive, unyielding, quarrelsome, or playing hard to get.

The discipline of martial arts also teaches patience, contrary to the opinion of other people that martial arts eliminate a person’s need for patience. In martial arts, an individual is taught to avoid confrontation as much as possible, and to only use physical combating techniques such as punching, kicking, and leg locks when necessary or when defending himself from an attack.
