First dates are important as this is a man’s chance of creating a good impression so that there would be a second date to come. Some men fail to show how interesting and attractive they can be just because they didn’t know how to dress well for first dates. It is said that clothes make the man. And during first dates, this statement is true. Thus, it is essential that you make sure you can create the man you want to be. First impressions start with the sense of sight. During first encounters and first dates as well, you are immediately judged based on how you present yourself; meaning, how you dress.

Depending on the tone you have set for your first date, you should pick the appropriate tone of clothing. If you intend to take her to a fine restaurant for your first date, you should wear smart casual to formal clothes depending on the level of formality needed for the situation. Some restaurants even have dress codes. Just make sure that you inquire about the restaurant’s dress code if there’s any, and inform your date so that she could also dress accordingly.

Make sure that your hair, nails and hands are clean. Proper grooming is part of your appearance and not just your clothes. It is better to wear clothes of neutral color, so that it would not attract too much attention. That way, your date will not be distracted by your clothes and would therefore focus more on your conversation.
